From Jeff Freeman
In the middle of June 2026, my mother who is 80 years old, announced that she wanted to move from Georgia to Missouri. She explained that it has been 3 years since my father’s passing and she wanted a new start. This announcement started the wheels in motion to find a house for her, figure out a moving schedule, and implement the move.
God certainly seemed to have approved because literally within 1 month it all happened. Friday, July 17, I returned to Georgia with tired muscles, tired eyes, and great memories of being a part of moving my mom to Moberly, MO. Praise God.

The picture included is me standing in front of a custard shop in Sessa, Illinois during the moving trip. This picture is so important to the focus of this article. The focal point should be the face on my shirt. If you don’t recognize the face outline, it is of Greg Gerrard. He was the principal of GCA. Upon his retirement GCA made this t-shirt to sell as a fundraiser. I bought one. Anytime I go to a new place I like to wear it, take a picture in front of anything unique, and then send it to he and is wife. The message I text them usually goes something like this, “Greg is with me in Sessa Illinois today!” The Gerrards humor me with funny comments after they read my text. Silly tradition but it is fun for sure.
Throughout the moving experience with my mom, I must be honest, I had questions. Is my mother thinking this through? Is this a good idea? Will she be ok? What if something happens and she needs help? After all the questions, concerns and “what ifs”, I was taking the picture to send to the Gerrards and it hit me! God is with me more than Greg is. I know that to be true in my head but that moment I was reminded what it truly means when God is with me.
When God is with me (or my mom in Georgia or Missouri) what happens? He is…
My Refuge—Psa 142:5
My Strength & Shield—Psa 28:7
My Very Present Help in Trouble—Psa 46:1
My Redeemer—Psa 78:35
My Help—Psa 121:1
My Receiver of my hurts/concerns—1 Pet 5:7
My Strong Hold—Psa 37:39
As I finished the drive, unpacked the truck, unpacked many boxes, and drove back to Georgia I could honestly say, “God was with us all the way”! He did all He promised He would do!
Today if you were asked “Is He with you too?”, what would you answer?
