One Team

From Jackie Payne

I am currently listening to the sounds of the Carman Adventist School band warming up down the hall from the church office. (Bless Jessica Tirado for having a heart for music and the children learning how to play.) Each person plays their instrument, and together (hopefully), something beautiful emerges. Yes, you can play a beautiful flute piece or saxophone piece or xylophone piece, but together you have something special, you have a team working together for one goal.

I remember playing the flute in middle school. I hated practicing and am completely tone deaf. I was nowhere near first chair. Playing music was clearly not my forte, but playing in the band was so much fun! I loved being a part of something that made people clap and cheer. There was such an adrenaline rush being a part of a pep rally for our football team. It didn’t matter if I missed the note or was late coming into the measure or got off the beat…the collective group made up for individual mistakes. So freeing…

It’s fun being a part of something, doing something together with one purpose despite different capabilities and talents. (You see where I’m going with this, right?) We, MAC, this church family, is that something. Jesus has put us on a team to share the Gospel in the Marietta area in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and church. We GET to do that, each with our own flare.

Pray about how you are a part of this family and how you can share Jesus, as only you can, with those you meet throughout the week and here on Sabbath. We are all on one team. Let’s go!
