For Who He Is

I just finished reading the book of Hebrews, and I was again in awe of how awesome Jesus is. I think what I love most about Hebrews is there isn’t a lot of prescriptive info for us as believers…it’s all about Jesus! We often read the Bible trying to find something for our lives, some way to live, some piece of advice or wisdom to hold onto (or to cram down other people’s throats), and we completely miss the most important theme – Jesus!
What if we all spent time praying to Jesus about how awesome He is? What if instead of coming to God with all our cares (which we should do, but sometimes that’s all we do), we just told Him how amazing and forgiving and patient and majestic and loving He is? How would that posture change us?
Hebrews 1:3 says:
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
He is amazing! After celebrating the progression of Jesus’ death, rest and resurrection last weekend, I hope you can see again, or for the first time, just how big His love is for us. He IS love. He created that concept in us. He overflows with an extravagant love for us, abundantly and forever and ever.
Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.
Hebrews 3:1
Fix your thoughts on Him. Take your focus off yourself and your needs and just praise who He is…not what He can give you or do for you, but who He is.
Majestic
Loving
Patient
Compassionate
Never changing
Eternal
Immanuel
Redeemer
Creator
Trinity
Grace
Truth
Mercy
The list goes on and on and on…what can you add?
