From Jeff Freeman
This time in history, we all take in many different advertising messages daily. When you drive onto MAC property after driving on Cobb Parkway, you will see Carman signs & flags marketing the school. Marketing, “the activity or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising”, is a big business in the world in which we live. Billions of dollars are spent around the globe to promote or sell something.
Do you know what the best form of marketing is? Flags, signs, balloons, TV, Social media, or mail? All of these have their place in the marketing world, but the best marketing tool is the personal testimony. When you are satisfied and transformed by something and you tell others about it full of energy and joy and love, nothing can top that marketing tool.
I know some people might be uncomfortable with this next statement, but, it is the same with Christianity. Christians can…(Jeff Freeman’s words)
wear t-shirts with Christian sayings
pass out Christian literature
invite people to their church
put on evangelistic series with the best speakers
give money to people on the street
memorize scriptures
build the nicest, largest, and most modern facilities
keep the 10 commandments
But have not love, I am … (1 Corinthians 13)
A Noisy gong
A Clanging cymbal
Nothing
Gain nothing
1 Corinthians 13 ends with, “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love”.
During this time in history in particular, I can’t help but wonder and ask what is keeping Jesus from coming and taking us all home with Him? What is He waiting for? Matthew 24 is all about those “last day events”. Wow! It seems like most, if not all, those signs are being fulfilled before our very eyes. Don’t forget verse 14 though:
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
According to this verse, it seems that “this gospel” must be proclaimed as a testimony to everyone and THEN the end will come. I can’t help but interpret this verse as “this gospel is the good news that Jesus loves, cares, and has died to save the world and how His love is lived out in and through me is the testimony the world needs to see”.
Friends, it seems to me that my part in this testimony is to let Jesus “market” His love, care, salvation to everyone He and I meet in such a way that they will say, “I want what you have”.
Impossible? Not when Jesus is present! May the end come soon!
