From Joseph Wamack

Hello MAC Family,

I have been thinking about my own personal conversion story-how I experienced the love of God revealed to me, how it felt in my heart, and how I opened my mind to the possibility that God was real and I could have a relationship with Him.

The reason I have been thinking about this is that we began a series of meetings at our church, in conjunction with It Is Written. It Is Written is an Adventist ministry which has been in existence for over 70 years. It Is Written has a TV ministry, Bible studies, mission projects and evangelistic meetings. We are pleased to have them in our church for the month of October. What a privilege it is for us to hear the Gospel proclaimed so beautifully, to see invited guests come and hear Truths of the Bible as they perhaps have never heard them before and to see lives changed.

That is why I have been reflecting on my own conversion story. How blessed I was to be led by God, to sense His presence and His caring over me, even when I wasn’t paying any attention. He had His hand on me before I knew He cared.

In the It Is Written meetings, I hear Bible truths being explained so beautifully, it causes me to say “wow” and “Thank you Jesus.” It is as if I am hearing things for the first time-all over again. Sometimes we are so close to something and see it so often that we forget how beautiful it is.

I know your stories of walking with God would be wonderful to hear. Many of you have shared your testimonies with me, and I would welcome hearing more. Remembering together how God has worked in our lives renews our gratitude, and I am thankful that It Is Written is with us this October to remind us of our high calling.

It reminds me of the beauty of Psalm 8. In Psalm 8, David breaks into robust, full-throated, unrestrained praise of God, powerfully affirming God's majesty, which centers in his name.

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Your glory is higher than the heavens.

You have taught children and infants

to tell of your strength,

silencing your enemies

and all who oppose you.

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—

the moon and the stars you set in place—

what are mere mortals that you should think about them,

human beings that you should care for them?

Yet you made them only a little lower than God

and crowned them with glory and honor.

You gave them charge of everything you made,

putting all things under their authority—

the flocks and the herds

and all the wild animals,

the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,

and everything that swims the ocean currents.

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Perhaps David saw all of this afresh when he looked into the night sky-the same sky that had stretched above him every night of his life. Sometimes the familiar becomes new again and reminds us of the goodness of God and the beauty of His holiness. Please make time to join us for an It Is Written meeting during October, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m.
