Trust Him

From Jackie Payne
For the last five weeks, a small group of about ten have been going through a women’s Bible study called “Come Home.” It started off a bit slow (and boring, if we’re honest), but boy, did it jump into high gear this week. This week, after going through Eden and Abraham and Moses and the exile, we made it to Jesus. Seeing how Jesus is the ultimate Home and how all the previous homes/tabernacles/promises point to Him has been spectacular. I love being able to look at the Bible in its entirety and see how God orchestrated things, how He had one thing foreshadow another thing and this thing symbolize this other thing. It’s great to have an almost bird’s eye view of the story of the Bible (from our humble human perspective, of course).
Sometimes that is what you need. When you’re in the middle of something, it’s hard to see the big picture. It’s hard to even keep your head above water some days. And it’s only afterwards that you can see how God worked things out.
If you are in the middle of something, trust Him. Trust that the God who set up a salvation plan for Adam and Eve and all of humanity can also handle your situation. Trust that the God who spoke to Abraham and lovingly set up a covenant with him also has the best in mind for you. Trust that the God who called to Moses from a burning bush and parted the Red Sea can also do miraculous things for you. Trust that the God who rebuked the Israelites for their sin but still made a way for them to come back to Him can also take care of your sin and repair your relationship with Him. Trust that the God who came as a baby in an unreal manner is indeed your King.
Where do you need to trust God today?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
