There are two kinds of people in the world-those that use the snooze button on their alarm clocks and those who don’t.


Every person has their own style and habits related to their morning routines. For example-my habit is-I have the alarm set for 5 AM and when it makes that incredibly annoying, obnoxious sound at 5 AM-I hit the STOP button, throw back the covers and I get up. As tired as I might be, as lazy as I might be feeling, I get up every time. I never go back to sleep, and I never hit the snooze button. Never. Ever. I have never used the snooze button. Thank you - it’s impressive, I know.


I don’t understand the “hit the snooze button” philosophy. If the alarm sound is so loud and/or annoying that it can jolt you awake, out of a beautiful sleep, then why in the world would you want to hear it again?!...like seven minutes later? And how can an extra seven minutes of sleep help you in any tangible way? All I would be thinking about for the next seven minutes is “that obnoxious noise is going to go off again any minute now!” And some people hit it again, and again, and again. I don’t understand it. It’s like saying, “I hate getting up in the morning, so I want to keep doing it again, and again.”


When the morning sun streaks across the room and the alarm clock goes off, consider it a golden opportunity for you that day. It is God’s first gift to you. It is the gift of time and opportunity and possibilities. Other than getting a good night’s rest, nothing was ever accomplished by sleeping too much.


The Bible says, “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23).


God’s Love for us is never ending and each day is a gift. You are His hands and feet. You are His voice to the world around you. So, get up, get going and move those feet! Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. God doesn’t use a snooze alarm. This is the beginning of a new year! 2023 is here!! This is the day the Lord has made!!!!!!!! Use it or lose it J
