Thoughts from our team...

Constant

From Jackie Payne

The last couple of weeks have been hectic and celebratory. Greg graduated with his bachelor’s degree after working full time, with a family and still serving at church and with the Atlanta Track Club, Passion Conferences and various other things. To say I’m proud is an understatement. I cried several times during his graduation. And then last night our baby boy, who isn’t a baby anymore, graduated from 8th grade at Carman. The plan is for him to head off to GCA next year, which makes me excited for him and concerned about the state of my heart at the same time.

Things change. That is the nature of life. But God doesn’t. Isn’t that wonderful news? No matter if the change is for the positive or for the negative, it’s still stressful and still unknown, which is often scary. But God is constant…and He is Good!

Hebrew 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Malachi 3:6 says, “I the Lord do not change.”

James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

He will never leave you. He will always guide you when you ask. He will always bless, maybe not in ways you want or in ways that are obvious, but it’s always for His honor and glory. It’s always out of His love for you.

May we be people of constancy, people who hold on to the hem of His robe, even when we feel like the change in life is too much and we are falling apart. May we shine His light into a world that is also rocked by the ever-changing nature of life. May those who don’t know Him see something in us that makes them want Jesus.
