Church Retreat
October 20, 2023
From Pastor Joseph Wamack
October 28 is our annual Church Retreat at Red Top Mountain State Park. I hope you are all able to attend. It should be fun.
It is always an invigorating experience to vary and change your Sabbaths. Sometimes it is good to go do outreach to those who need it on Sabbath. Sometimes it is good to go visit another church (and hopefully realize there is no place like MAC!) And sometimes it is good to be outside and see the beauty of Creation-like at Red Top.
A church family is a very precious commodity. Rarely do you find situations in modern society where so many people know each other, care about one another and have common shared experiences. The church family is ultimately united by the presence of the Holy Spirit. We are imperfect people loved by a perfect God perfectly. Jesus prayed in His last prayer before His arrest-“My prayer is not for them (the disciples) alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message (that’s us), that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:20-21.
Jesus prayed for unity-for His followers to be ONE-to have the common bond of one message, one faith, one love, one Lord.
Events like the church retreat allow us to see each other in different circumstances, like hiking or more relaxed conversations or working in the kitchen together. And to grow and be a blessing to others. Being a part of a church family is a blessing and a privilege. Hope you feel the same. Hope to see you at Red Top!
