From Jackie Payne
Our family went to the Georgia Aquarium last Sabbath. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting a GA Resident Pass this year, and despite going several times, I usually find myself staring at some creature, contemplating how cool God is. Last Sabbath it was me and the sea nettles. As I was staring at these weird little creatures, I was amazed at God’s creativity in making these things that seem to move in a breath-in, breath-out manner, gliding their stinging tentacles through the water, often colliding with one another without a care. They are absolutely beautiful, and I could have stood there a lot longer had my energetic kids not run off to view another exhibit.
To think that God not only did the earth-shattering thing to die for our sins, but He also created a lot of incredible, weird, stunning, ugly, complicated creatures, is fantastic. Seriously! What kind of a deity makes us, creates a way for us to be connected to Him on earth, creates a way for us to live eternally with Him AND creates a really cool place to live while we wait for His second coming? We serve an awesome and loving God!!
While there is a lot of bad news in the world and a lot of distractions in our everyday lives, please take some time to be outside or surrounded by something natural, something God-made. Take a walk, pet your dog, lie in a hammock, go on a picnic or play in the dirt.
Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. Jeremiah 32:17
