Seek Him Fully

Greetings MAC Family!
In the newsletter I wrote last month, I drew our attention to Christ’s words in Matthew 13:45-46 and pointed out that you are the valuable pearl in that story and that heaven has poured out everything possible to procure your heart. Keeping with that theme this month, I’d like for you to take a look at a verse we’re focusing on this week at the school, Luke 11:9. In that verse Christ says, "Seek and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. Ask, and it shall be given."
Most of us have probably heard that verse enough times that we say it without much thought. But I want us to think about it for a moment. How do you hear Christ saying it? Is it just a statement - in your mind does He say it matter of factly? Or do you hear it another way? As I think about Christ's unmatched love for us, and for His cross-proven desire to give us everything we need to spend eternity with Him, what I hear isn't just a matter of fact statement, it's a pleading voice - "Please seek. Please knock. Please ask."
Christ is asking us to take initiative for our own salvation. He won't force you, but He promises you that if you take initiative and seek Him, seek His kingdom, seek His righteousness, that you can know that you'll have it.
But I feel like I should comment on our 'seeking' here. Earlier this year during chapel, I asked the Carman students, "If I placed a $1 bill somewhere in the field, would you go look for it?" Of course many said 'yes' but then I asked one of the older kids to get real with me about it and they said they would probably look for a minute or two and the other students largely agreed. Then I asked, "What if it was $100?" Well, that changed everything, "now we're going to look for as long as it takes" was the reply.
Christ isn't pleading with us to seek half-heartedly. We're promised in Jeremiah 29:13 that we will seek and find God when we search for him with all of our heart. He wants your hearts MAC Family, and He's pleading with you to go ahead and seek Him fully - with your very best effort - and He promises that when you do that, you will find what you're looking for.
Blessings
