Thoughts from our team...

The Work of Your Fingers

April 9, 2024

From Jackie Payne

Who watched the solar eclipse on Monday? It was so cool! I love experiencing things related to space; it makes me feel tiny and oh so loved at the same time. As our family sat in our driveway in camping chairs staring up through NASA-approved glasses, I had two thoughts:

  1. Do other planets experience solar eclipses? I mean, some planets have a lot of moons so that would make sense. After some research, the answer is yes, but because of the moon-earth-sun sizes and placement in the solar system, our eclipses are unique. Other planets that have moons experience eclipses, but not like ours.

  2. We are one tiny solar system in a vast universe. How cool will that be to experience other solar system’s eclipses and orbits in eternity with God.

Monday afternoon I said, “That’s so cool!” many, many times. It was a good reminder that God is a big, creative, orderly, loving God.

When I consider your heavens,

    the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,

human beings that you care for them?

Psalm 8:3-4

Lord, thank you for being so cool! Thank you for letting me experience, on a daily basis, the world You have created for us. Thank you for letting me see Your fingerprints on creation. Help me to always be on the lookout for what You’ve done and what You’re doing. Amen.
