From Pastor Joe Wamack
There is the classic story of a man, who lived in a town experiencing such heavy rain, that the rain waters rose, and the town began to flood. The town’s people were told to evacuate and everyone, including the man, was told they needed to get out.
But the man refused saying, “No, God will provide. God is going to take care of me. I have prayed so I know He will do it.”
The rains continued to come down and the floodwaters continued to rise. Soon the rain came into the man’s home- 6 inches deep. A sheriff knocked on the door and informed him,” you must leave, the waters are rising, and you must get out-NOW! “
But the man said, “No, God will provide. God is going to take care of me. I have prayed, so I know He will do it.” The floodwaters continued to rise, and soon the man needed to climb on top of his kitchen table.
A boat came along, and the boater said through the kitchen window, “Please get out of the house and into my boat, your house is flooding, the region is unsafe. Let me get you out of here.”
The man said, “No, God will provide. God is going to take care of me. I have prayed so I know He will do it.”
Finally, the man had to climb on the roof of his own home and the waters continued to rise-practically engulfing his home. A helicopter came along and lowered a net to rescue him.
The man refuses and says, “No, God will provide. God is going to take care of me. I have prayed. So, I know He will do it.”
Sadly, the man drowns and goes to stand before God. The man says to God, "Why didn’t you save me? I am a believer. I trusted you. I prayed. Why did this happen?”
God says, "I sent a sheriff, I sent a boat, I sent a helicopter, what more did you want me to do? Your prayers of faith needed some footwork connected to them."
There is a point at which we must take responsibility for our faith. When God sends a helicopter, it is best to climb in. So, action is a part of faith. Action is connected to prayer.
There is a time to pray but there is also a time for movement. God gave us knees to kneel and pray on-yes! But He also gave us feet and hands to use and muscles to move to cause things to happen.
God is a God of action! He spoke and the world came to be. He formed Adam out of dust like a potter and breathed into his lungs and Adam BECAME a living being. God so loved the world he GAVE His only Son-more action! When the Lord gets ready-you gotta move! May your movements today be blessed by God Himself. May your actions be of Love and heart filled with His presence. And never give up praying!
